This day Sonia and Marion walked with the baby Rue Mont Royal along. There are a lot of sweet little shops there with loads of sweet litte stuff which cries for being bought. But this time they were not buying the stairway to heaven.
As they were already on the way back home, I headed for a shootout in the old part of Montreal, the port and around Notre Dame cathedral. I started at Victoria Square.
Meanwhile I had entered another world. So many things in this quarter made me think I was in France. Also interesting is when you see the modern buildings in the background, which makes a strong contrast. Guess what! I like contrast. Such nice impressions demanded to be processed and so I took a break here. What to say? I had an excellent coffee for 1,70 dollars and a superb apple pie. Also the people there were so friendly and as I was leaving the man told me his whole life's history, gave me a candy and finally I took a picture of him and his wife in their 4 year old chocolaterie. These are the most delicate moments - almost magic, and this picture of the elder couple will make me smile many years from now.
Now it was after sunset and suddenly the clouds had gone. Some combination of this and light rain made the sky explode with color from orange to blue. I was at Ave St. Laurent and had no idea how to capture the mood - and I knew it would only last for mintues.
The reason of being there was that I should meet the others, i.e. Marion, Edi, Sonia and the Brasilian friends, at the Cafeteria. It was the farewell party of two of them. Of course I didn't find the place, so I sat around the corner from were we should have met for almost an hour at a cafe . Eventually I asked some guy if he knew such a place and he told me and than I was there and it was still funny. Finally they showed us their apartment wich provides a very wide view above the city.
Almost at home: i could not resist ;-)
